On 4 February 2020, the Ecology Foundation held a meeting with Cempedak Islands. The discussion included the commitment of Cempedak Island in supporting the MPA Bintan program and discussion on the progress of the rehabilitation program on Buton Island. MPA is defined as a protected area, managed with a zoning system to achieve sustainable management of fish resources and the environment. MPA Bintan covers 11 villages spread over 3 subdistricts in Bintan Regency. Land rehabilitation is an effort to improve post-mining land by planting trees so that the land will return to its function. In this program the ecology foundation plans to plant mahogany, sea fir, and ketapang trees.
