In an effort to strengthen community participation in sustainable coastal resource management, community groups in Berakit Village, including the Srikandi Community Supervisory Group (Pokmaswas), the Melati and Tenggiri Women's Economic Business Group (KUEP) and the Panglong Community Business Group, participated in a capacity building program through a series of group administration training and training on the use of mangroves in batik and ecoprint crafts. This program aims to improve the managerial and entrepreneurial skills of the community, so that they can be more independent in managing groups and utilizing environmental potential in a sustainable manner to improve economic welfare.

Group administration training was the initial stage of the program, where participants were given an in-depth understanding of good organizational governance. They are taught various important aspects such as financial recording, making activity reports, preparing proposals, and effective group management strategies. With improved administrative capacity, community groups are expected to be more organized in carrying out various activities, both in environmental

conservation efforts and local resource-based business development.

After getting strengthened in administrative aspects, participants then attended training on the utilization of mangroves in batik and ecoprint crafts. Mangroves not only have an ecological function in maintaining the balance of the coastal environment, but also have economic potential through the utilization of certain parts such as leaves and bark that contain natural dyes. In the batik training, participants were taught how to extract natural colors from various types of mangroves and apply them in batik motifs that have high artistic value. Meanwhile, in the ecoprint training, participants learned the technique of printing natural leaf patterns on fabrics using environmentally friendly methods, resulting in unique products with their own charm.

Through this training, the community not only gained new skills but also insight into mangrove-based business opportunities that can be developed. With this innovation, community groups are expected to be able to create high-value products that can be marketed as local coastal products. In addition to providing economic benefits, this program also supports environmental conservation as it encourages wise use of resources without damaging the mangrove ecosystem.

This activity received support from various parties, including local governments such as the Riau Islands Provincial Maritime and Fisheries Service, Berakit Village Government, Ecology Foundation Riau Islands together with Yayasan Care Peduli Partners and Traveloka who have attention to community empowerment and environmental conservation. In the future, it is hoped that this capacity building program can continue and develop, so that more and more community groups are able to manage coastal resources independently and sustainably. With good administrative skills and utilization of mangroves in creative industries, coastal communities will not only be the main actors in conservation, but also able to create sustainable economic opportunities for future generations.
