In relation to the conservation of marine resources, the Ecology Foundation along with the Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Riau Islands Province are planning the management of the Bintan Marine Protected Area (MPA). According to the plan, the management zoning of the Bintan Conservation Area will cover the eastern coast of Bintan Island, including Mapur Island.
